Begin now to live your dream life. It
is easier than you think… … and
more important!
Carol Moreng
The beginning of a new year brings
about renewed hopes and desires for
a better, healthier life. We resolve
to do those things that we believe
will be bring us feelings of well-being
and
lead to a longer life. We talk about
wanting positive change and the opportunity
to live our dream life, and we have
all of our criteria figured out for
what our dream life would look like.
For many, though, the belief is that
the dream life doesn’t actually
begin until all of the criteria is
met and comes in the package that is
imagined.
Think about what your dream life would
look like. Maybe you imagine your dream
life as you being healthy and strong,
having a job you love (or not working),
being in a loving and supportive relationship,
having more time to do the things you
love, owning a beautiful home, and being
financially free. For most people the
list is long and it feels as though it
would take forever to get there. Do you
hear yourself saying that someday when
I retire, or have enough money, or when
the children are grown I will have the
time and money to live the life I really
want? Or is it something else that is
missing that keeps you from being there?
It doesn’t have to be all or nothing
to begin living your dream. Start with
one area of your life and build from there.
There are no limits to what you can create.
The important thing to remember is that
as you build your dream life, within the
situation you are in right now, you begin
to move towards more of what you want.
You start the energy flowing and the intention
is set. The momentum builds and as you
begin to move towards what you want, more
things happen that set even more positive
change in motion.
To set your intention and begin building
your dream life, follow these helpful
steps:
- Write about what your dream life looks
like and intend to build that
dream life. Create a “dream” board
with pictures symbolizing what
you dream about.
- Find people who will be
on your “dream
team”. Share your dreams
and ask for support. Take your
dreams
outside
of yourself so they can grow
even bigger.
- Choose one small
part of your dream life and
start building your
dream in that area. Take positive, consistent
steps
towards making that part
of your life a reality.
- As that part
of your life becomes part of you,
start on another small part
of
your dream life. Keep the
momentum going.
- Check in often with yourself,
and make sure that what you are
creating is still a part of what
your dream life
looks like
to you.
- Celebrate and
honor every accomplishment, and
realize that as you
go through this process you ARE living
the life of your
dreams every day!
Now, more than ever, we understand how
critical it is to live a life full of
purpose and pleasure. There is growing
evidence that having positive feelings
and emotions about our life is linked
to good health and longevity. Therefore,
our ability to live a life that is authentic,
a life that feels as if we are doing exactly
what we should do, is key for happiness,
good health, and a long life. Living your
dream life cannot happen overnight, but
when you take the time each day to create
the life you want with intention, you
will see that it is happening now and
you do not have to wait until “someday”.
